All-new
CENTROID CNC controls can be ordered with AC brushless servo motors.
The new CENTROID AC SD3 can power AC
brushless servo motors with ratings of up to 2kW continuous output,
while the SD1 is good up to 3kW. Popular on production machines where
very high rapid rates are desired and on large machines which require
high torque axis motors. |

CENTROID
stocks 750W, 1kW, 2kW , and 3kW AC brushless servo motors. Click
here for servo motor dimensions.
Note: Any combination
of motor size is available on a given control. For example, it is
common on a lathe for the X axis to be smaller than the Z axis.
The SD3 servo drive will easily control a 750W motor on X and a
2kW motor on Z. The SD1 will handle up to 3kW servo motors. |

Why
AC? |
|
|
|
|
|
AC
Brushless servo motors run at a higher voltage than do DC servo motors.
This allows them to output both more power and speed for a given physical
size. For example: An AC motor that is about the same size as a DC
servo motor will have approximately double the power and max rpm as
the DC motor. A machine tool equipped with AC servo motors will rapid
position two to three times faster than a DC servo motor-equipped
machine tool. In addition to higher performance, AC Brushless servo
motors do not have brushes or commutators to wear out. Less moving
parts = higher reliability. |
