TB196 Rev1 FC Corruption Recovery
Purpose
Customers have been experiencing problems with file corruption on their controls This occurs when they boot up their
system and it stops at the following message "Unexpected inconsistency; run fsck manually" Depending on the severity
of the file corruption there is a way that may restore the flashcard so that a backup can be made and programs can be
backed up
Procedure
1 You have the "Unexpected inconsistency; run fsck manually" message and a flashing cursor Type the following line
fsck y /dev/hda1 press enter
This will repair if repairable your file system once complete type either "reboot" or "poweroff"
2 If your system boots up into CNC10 software do a report and backup your programs Then get a new flashcard
3 If your system does not boot up into CNC10 software your FC is corrupted pretty badly Contact Centroid Tech
support and send FC in to see if it is possible for manual file retrieval Otherwise you will have to reconfigure the machine
and the customer will have to rewrite their programs
4 Go over with the customer how to make a report and backup their programs Then store them on their office PC to
avoid the same problem in the future Also email a copy of the report to support@centroidcnc com so that we can keep a
copy on our network
